Engineering Controls Analyst (Finance)



SOLV Energy is an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and solar services provider for utility solar, high voltage substation and energy storage markets across North America.

Job Description Summary:
The Engineering Controls Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the Engineering Department by managing and executing non-engineering functions that enhance operational efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and cross-departmental collaboration. This role is ideal for a highly organized, analytical, and proactive individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about process improvement and administrative excellence.

Hybrid position based in San Diego, CA.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):
    • Evaluate and update current SOPs to ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance across engineering operations.
    • Evaluate and update current training materials used to onboard new Engineering department employees.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
    • Analyze reports using engineering and operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Survey Development & Analysis:
    • Distribute surveys to gather feedback from internal and external stakeholders; analyze results to inform policy and procedural changes.
  • Policy Implementation:
    • Assist in the development and rollout of new policies and procedures based on data insights and operational needs.
    • Analyze current training materials and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Workflow Optimization & Automation:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and implement automation tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
  • Permitting Strategy:
    • Analyze and evaluate permitting processes and identify opportunities that will expedite and simplify permitting processes.
  • Cross-Departmental Coordination:
    • Serve as a liaison between engineering and other departments to ensure alignment, communication, and procedural consistency.
  • Meeting Support:
    • Attend meetings, take detailed minutes, and track action items to ensure follow-through and accountability.
  • Administrative Support:
    • Perform various administrative tasks including, but not limited to scheduling, document management, and internal communications.
  • KPI Development:
    • Assist in tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Engineering Department to measure success and drive improvements.
  • Centralized Engineering Group Support:
    • Contribute to the development and organization of a centralized engineering function to enhance collaboration and resource sharing.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Operations Management, Engineering Management, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in an administrative, operations, or analyst role (preferably in an engineering or technical environment).
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar data analysis tools.
  • Experience with workflow automation tools (e.g., Power Automate) is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally.

Preferred Skills:
  • Familiarity with permitting processes and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).

Compensation Range:

$76,645.00 - $95,806.00
