Consolidated Precision Products (CPP) has an immediate need for a Methoding/Process Engineer for Wollaston Alloys Inc. in Braintree, MA, to join our team. Wollaston Alloys is a stainless steel and high alloy sand casting foundry that manufactures castings for the military and power generation industries.
The Methoding/Process Engineer is part of the team responsible for providing a smooth transition of new products from design to production readiness.
JOB SUMMARY
Develop robust gating designs and processes to manufacture sand mold castings
Support new product development and improvement of existing products
Work closely with Engineering Supervisor to incorporate design changes that will increase manufacturability and reduce scrap
Create complete models of part gating/rigging for use in simulation and pattern creation
Run new designs through casting simulation software (MAGMASOFT) to verify effectivity
Participate in Material Review Board meetings to identify defect root causes and implement appropriate corrective actions
Work with Engineering Supervisor to manage the engineering sample program, including inspecting castings and providing updates to production control.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
Work with the team to develop cost-effective tooling (outsourced), dimensional, and other processes required to produce and control the metallurgical and NDT integrity of the product, assuring it satisfies customer requirements using tools that test the strength and capabilities of the process both metallurgically and dimensionally.
Manage projects using process and templates to qualify parts that are manufacture friendly and meet process expectations relative to cost within original committed time frames.
Develop and manage BOMs and assure accurate standard costs.
Establish and maintain effective communication with multidiscipline teams.
Keep milestone updates and obtain agreements from internal and external customers.
Work across multiple departments and with multiple disciplines during the development process.
Participate in troubleshooting production processes related to Engineering.
Create work instructions for production processes.
Maintain documentation of work procedures and processes.
Work with shop floor personnel to provide an understanding of work instructions.
Enforce safety standards.
Routinely audit production lots for adherence to established techniques and to ensure the repeatability of the results.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere with respect and communicate professionally.
Meet development commitments concerning established cost and time frames.
Maintain scrap level at or below industry standards.
Develop efficient processes that meet quoted cost targets and quality requirements.
Maintain safety standards for operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associates degree in Engineering or related field required
Experience: 1-3 years experience in a sand-casting foundry
Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Attention to detail, ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), ability to work with others through complex situations
Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
Experience with MAGMASOFT or similar casting simulation software is a plus
