Technical Solutions and Design Network Engineer II (Finance)



Job Summary:

As a Technical Solutions and Design Network Engineer II the candidate will have a role in the initial design, and cost assessment of fiber extensions, and the corresponding network topology, for a range of network products and services for enterprise, wholesale, and carrier opportunities provided by the Glo Business Sales Team. These designs and cost assessments are provided back to the sales team as internal engineering quotes, which they develop customer pricing from. Tasked with developing innovative solutions and architecting network infrastructure, this role ensures quotes are designed accurately and capture all costs associated with the service delivery projects that result from sales contracts. This position entails detailed design solutions, aiming to provide the best cost options while adhering to Shentel's Network standards. Additionally, this position involves building internal relationships and facilitates collaboration with other internal teams including, but not limited to Glo Business Sales, Sales Engineering, Access Engineering, Core Engineering, Outside Plant Engineering, Construction, and Service Delivery Project Management.

Qualification Requirements:

a. Education: Bachelor's degree in business, telecommunications or equivalent experience in related field is desired.

b. Experience Level:

i. 2-3 years of experience in solutions engineering, network design and data network engineering the telecommunications industry.

ii. Strong technical expertise in telecommunications technologies, including optical network systems, packet networking, wireless networks and data center infrastructure.

iii. Proven track record of delivering network solutions that drive business value and competitive advantage.

iv. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

c. Special Requirements:

i. Excellent communication, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts.

ii. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex network challenges and develop effective solutions.

iii. Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, MEF or equivalent preferred.

IV. Knowledge of:

a. Strong understanding of network concepts and protocols, including MEF Ethernet standards and routing protocols, such as MPLS, QoS, BGP and IS-IS.

b. Experience with network hardware and equipment, such as routers, switches, firewalls and wireless devices.

c. Knowledge of network services, such as voice, private networking, Internet delivery and wireless.

d. Experience with network planning tools, software and methodologies, such as GIS and network modeling software.Shentel provides a drug-free workplace and is an EEO employer.
