Club Coordinator - Basketball (Creative Design)



The Memphis Sports and Events Center is accepting applications for a Club Coordinator- Basketball to oversee the facility's youth and adult sports leagues. The Basketball Club Coordinator works closely with other MSEC Directors and oversees departmental staff while reporting to the General Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Make key programming decisions regarding club basketball boys and girls.
Organize and execute all facets of assigned programs, including ideation, scheduling, marketing, registration, policies and procedures, staffing, execution and evaluation.
Recruit, manage, supervise and evaluate staff members such as league coordinators, scorekeepers, and marshalls.
Work with referee assignors to ensure all leagues are properly officiated.
Create game schedules that adhere to various team needs while offering the best competitive environment.
Build customer relationships (with coaches, players, etc.) for continued sales and retention and leverage league relationships to benefit other parts of the business (such as tournaments and facility rentals).
Handle all customer-related matters while delivering exceptional service.
Work with vendors (i.e., awards, t-shirts, etc.) to ensure best pricing and quality.
Order and manage program supplies while adhering to budget.
Monitor league sales forecasts, prepare data reports and manage the financial resources of assigned programs.
Facilitate other recreation programs, such as drop-in play and open gyms, and actively research new programs and activities to maximize court inventory and revenue.
Oversee the Youth Programs Director and assist with the strategy, direction and performance of youth programs such as camps and instructional classes.
Collaborate with other department heads to ensure the smooth operation of leagues and programs.
Maintain knowledge of and adherence to ESM/MSEC policies, rules, and regulations.


Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Management, Physical Education, Sport Management, Sport Administration, or other related field
Minimum of three (3) years of experience developing, implementing, scheduling and evaluating varied sports recreation programs
Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience
Strong organizational skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Creative thinker with a history of applying innovation in programming
Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build relationships
Ability to manage programs across multiple sports and to diverse populations.


Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge of Google Workplace (i.e., Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc.). Upon hiring and training, the individual must be able to successfully utilize registration software, timeclock software, and other facility software.
