Research Assistant (R&D)



Job Description

The Department of Computer Science at Stevens Institute of Technology is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant. The position will focus on advancing the efficiency and adaptability of large-scale AI models, contributing to innovative research that bridges computational methods with cognitive science. The Research Assistant will play a critical role in project design, data analysis, and collaborative dissemination of findings within the academic community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Explore the efficiency and adaptability of large-scale AI models.

  • Connect insights from AI research with concepts from neuroscience.

  • Contribute to the design and execution of interdisciplinary research projects.

  • Analyze experimental results and assist in interpreting complex AI system behaviors.

  • Participate in collaborative discussions, reporting, and dissemination of findings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Neuroscience, or a related field (Master's preferred).

  • Strong foundation in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or computational modeling.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in interdisciplinary teams.

  • Prior research experience in AI, machine learning, or cognitive science is a plus.

Compensation Range

In compliance with the New Jersey Wage Transparency Act, the hourly base range for this position is $15.49 - $18.00. This range represents the University's good faith estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Stevens Institute of Technology determines compensation based on factors including the position's scope and responsibilities, the candidate's experience, education, skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational considerations. The final salary will be set considering departmental budget, qualifications, and relevant credentials. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes additional forms of compensation, such as incentives, stipends, or other applicable pay components.
