Billing Manager - Physical Therapy (Healthcare)



Job description

Doctor of Physical Therapy is currently seeking a Full-Time Medical Billing Department Manager to provide supervisory oversight and management of all facets of the billing department including but not limited to claims processing, revenue monitoring, prior authorizations, verifications of benefits and quality improvement initiatives. Works cooperatively with other managers and administration to ensure timely billing, reporting and patient account management. Oversees and maintains all day-to-day RCM functions. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of management experience in medical billing/physical therapy or medical practice.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 to 5:00. In person position, Plainville, IL.
Reports to: VP of RCM
Responsibilities and Duties

Manage and monitor all day-to-day operations & functions.
Mentor and supervise billing supervisors.
Performs overall revenue management including satisfying timely filing requirements and maximizing billing revenue and collections, and resolution of denied/rejected claims.
Submits claims via the Waystar Clearinghouse. Supervise submission by billing specialists.
Monitors reports to ensure clean claims submissions.
Monitors monthly aging reports and conducts follow-up on unpaid claims and takes appropriate action to correct.
Identifies, researches and resolves system issues.
Provides technical expertise to ensure accurate billing including billing for new services and staying informed of regulatory, compliance, and best practices.
Develops, implements, and maintains revenue cycle standard operating procedures (SOPs) at the direction of the VP of RCM.
Performs regular audits of daily billing reports to identify coding and billing errors.
Monitors A/R aging and payment reports monthly to identify trends and underpayments; investigate causes and take appropriate steps toward resolution using professional judgment.
Provides monthly updates of revenue cycle status including reports, metrics, and presentations, directly working with VP of RCM
Provides and/or monitors training as required to all staff regarding: billing and other revenue cycle related tasks, standard operating procedures (SOPs).
With other members of the management team to develop continuous process and priorities for quality improvement to improve revenue cycle outcomes.
Handle and be knowledgeable of all software utilized in the management of operations related revenue.
Performs special projects and other duties as requested.

Qualifications and Skills

Two years Medical Billing Management experience with team management.
Proficiency in use of clearinghouses, billing software applications and EMRs.
Proficiency in Excel and Word.
Experience working with all types of payers. (HMO, PPO, Medicare/Medicaid, etc.) and understanding of standard billing requirements.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Advanced computer skills and navigation skills.
Demonstrates accountability, integrity, professionalism, openness, receptiveness to change, creativity and innovation.
Eagerness to grow and learn is a must.
