Ramp Technician II | KBNA (Transportation)



Position Summary

The Ramp Technician II is a customer service position that is responsible for supporting all ground operations including but not limited to towing aircraft, marshalling, fueling, light aircraft cleaning, and movement of passenger and crew automobiles for inbound and outbound aircraft crews and passengers.  The Ramp Technician II works with fuels and other flammable, hazardous materials; proper handling procedures must be followed.  The airport area is a high-noise environment; the use of personal protection equipment is required.  Operating vehicles and moving aircraft in proximity of people, buildings and other aircraft require extreme caution.  Procedures must be followed for everyone's personal safety, the safety of others, and the protection of company and customer property. The Ramp Technician II reports to the Ramp and Facilities Manager and SF Aviation's Director of Operations.

  • Location:  Nashville, TN (KBNA)
  • Shift: Availability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Compensation: $22.04 - $28.01; plus benefits.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

 
  • Provides baggage handling and trip arrival and departure logistics support to all passengers and aircraft operations staff at the aviation facility;
  • Maintains safe and clean work areas in the aircraft hangar;
  • Provides safe movement of aircraft in and out of the hangar per aircraft movement standards;
  • Safely utilizes ground support equipment, such as tugs and carts;
  • Marshals all aircraft in and out of the ramp area;
  • Ensures securing of all aircraft;
  • Provides GPU, Water, and Lavatory services; including disposal of lavatory contents;
  • Provides general cleaning of the hangar floors, and ground service equipment (GSE);
  • Services all GSE with running fuels, oil, and provides general maintenance of all GSE;
  • Reports customer service and safety concerns to the Director of Operations for resolution;
  • Provides light interior aircraft cleaning such as garbage removal, floors vacuuming and wiping down galley, lavatory, and cabin tables and surfaces;
  • Complies with International Waste protocols, and ensures third-party incinerator company removes waste in a timely manner;
  • Removes waste and recycling from hangar trash bins;
  • Ensures Quality control of the fuel farm per ASTM Standards, including testing of fuel (delivery and tank testing), at the direction of the Ramp and Facilities Manager;
  • Supports technical fuel farm equipment maintenance;
  • Supports fuel tank refueling operations;
  • Complies with all Environmental Laws (hazardous materials handling, fuel storage, stormwater management, etc.);
  • Complies with Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans;
  • Escorts vendors visiting facility as requested by the Director of Operations;
  • Assists in shipping and receiving functions at the facility;
  • Performs other duties delegated by the Ramp and Facilities Manager; and
  • Complies with the Safety Management System.

  • Schedules are subject to change. Employees must be available to work flexible hours as changes occur, examples include overtime, holidays, and covering time-off for the team.

  • Must be comfortable with working outdoors, day, night and in all weather conditions.
  • The following functions may be performed in variable weather and environmental conditions such as jet engine fumes, dust, or noise.
  • Step up and down stairs, ladders, and vehicles.
  • Work effectively while sitting, standing, walking, or running.
  • Able to engage safely and effectively in gross and fine motor control movements such as operating machinery, company vehicles and handheld tools.

  • Complete tasks safely and effectively that require hand and eye coordination.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull objects (broomsticks, ladders, power tools etc.) from ground level to waist and overhead, up to 75 lbs.
  • Bending and stooping to pick up tools, and other equipment, up to 75 lbs.
  • Stooping below aircraft wing.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time, running when required.
  • Climb onto aircraft surfaces.
  • Must be able to reason, analyze, and solve problems.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with clients, leadership and others.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Always work safely and effectively.
  • Must work well with others.
  • Must be able to prioritize and multitask in a distracting environment.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, background check, and obtain airport security clearance.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Availability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Prior work experience as a line service technician, including aircraft towing and marshalling preferred.
  • Experience with aircraft fueling operations and handling of hazardous materials/flammable liquids preferred
  • Familiarity with fuel farm operations and ASTM fuel quality standards preferred.
