Qualis Corporation is seeking a mid-level Telecommunications Technician with Outside Plant and Inside Plant experience to provide Advisory and Assistance Support (A&AS) functions in support of Geographic Information Services to 96 CS/SCOW.
This position is located at Eglin AFB, FL.
Essential Functions
Update infrastructure drawings by utilizing Automated Information Systems (AIS) including the Cyberspace Infrastructure Planning System Visualization Component (CIPS/CVC), Inside Plant (ISP) and OSP telecommunications infrastructures drawings.
Produce, update, maintain and post changes to the CIPS 5.0 CVC database using the Government-provided Communications Feature Data (CFD). The work will include utilizing software web browser applications,database management tools, commerical database programs, word processing and spreadsheets in order to update administrative and maintenance Cyber System Installation Records (CSIR), Microstation files, ArcGIS files/Shape files, work orders, inspection reports, Installation Records (As-Built drawings) or other pertinent documents or electronic data. All drawings to be created or updated will be accomplished IAW AFI 17-120, Technical Orders, Standards, Specifications and instructions published at the CIPS/CIPS 5.0/CVC/ISP/EIM SharePoint accessible website
Perform customer support/liaison, communication field surveys, work clearance request AF form 103 (digging permits), work orders, and requirements to collect communications infrastructure, and GPS data/entry
Locate direct buried and/or underground cable
Locate associated equipment such as copper cable Building Entrance Protectors, fiber optic termination and splice centers, patch panels, tracer cables as required, equipment racks, fiber optic jumpers and fiber optic inner duct
Utilize GPS tracking equipment to identify, trace, and update exact location of buried and/or underground copper and fiber infrastructure
Test and identification of copper and fiber cables using established procedures and standard test equipment to include latest state-of-the-art equipment.
Education and Experience Qualification
Requires a Bachelors Degree and 3 years of experience. Substitution of experience for education considered with customer approval - 6 years is equivalent to a BS degree.
Requires a working knowledge of telecommunications Outside Plant and Inside plant.
Desire a working knowledge of VISIO and AUTOCAD
Solid understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on OneNote, and web-based services as the primary medium
Fundamental knowledge of computer hardware and familiarity with equipment and network nomenclature (CAT6/Switch/Rack/etc.)
Must be able to operate a variety of motor vehicles and equipment in the accomplishment of assigned duties
Must be able to distinguish between different colors, possess manual dexterity to complete fine motor tasks, stand for extended periods of time (e.g., 30 minutes to 1 hour), climb ladders, enter confined spaces, lift and carry items weighing 50lbs and work in inclement weather conditions as required
Must have the ability to quickly understand the customers overall technical objectives and mission a provide effective solutions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with customer interaction and presentation capabilities required
Must exemplify a dedication to achieving the mission of the 96CS as well as high standards of quality and workmanship in performing the duties
Must be able to work effectively alone, unsupervised, or within a group.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while being able to prioritize work to balance multiple task and deadlines
Must be willing to travel up to 5%.
