Program Manager II, Retention and Graduation Initiatives (Finance)



Department: Undergraduate Student Success Salary: $49,400.00 - $56,200.00
Description:

Manages the day-to-day operations of a large university program or department, including the supervision of staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.

1. Plans and develops procedures for administering a large or complex department or program.
2. Manages fiscal activities, including procurement and budget analysis.
3. Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
4. Prepares abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
5. Creates and reviews reports of expenditures and activities.
6. May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations.
7. Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
8. May serve as property custodian for the department.
9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MQ:
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.

Member of the Retention and Graduation Initiatives team, within Undergraduate Student Success. Plans and develops university-wide student success programs, initiatives, and services designed to increase retention, persistence, and graduation rates.

The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following:
• Higher Education experience and ability to apply student development philosophy (appreciative advising, student development theories) to provide comprehensive assistance to students with changing needs.
• Assists students in developing roadmaps for their success at the university, using varied strategies to facilitate the identification and implementation of their goals.
• Review student progress and track students using online platforms and other academic support tools.
• Regularly collaborate with faculty and other college staff as needed to support student success.
• Data driven decision making abilities.
• Leads co-curricular student programming and activities in collaborations with departments, student organizations, and the office.
• Uses strong communication skills both written and verbal to develop and foster University, school, and community relationship/partnerships in support of co-curricular student programs.
• Ability to take initiative, problem solve, exercise excellent judgment, demonstrate critical thinking skills and adapt to shifting priorities in diverse setting.
• Ability to clearly interpret and implement policies and procedures.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Highest level of professionalism and respect for confidentiality.
