Shipping & Receiving Supervisor (Finance)



Starting Pay: $63,000 - 82,000/yr SE

What You'll Do

  • Train and manage a team of shipping and receiving personnel over three shifts.
  • Responsibilities include assigning daily tasks, setting performance goals, conducting evaluations, and providing guidance and coaching to ensure team success.
  • Communicate needed information to all employees in person and via email.
  • Conduct weekly huddles.
  • Schedule and coordinate all shipping and receiving activities, ensuring that priorities are clear and deadlines are met. This includes planning for peak periods and adjusting workflows to maximize efficiency.
  • Ability to work day shift and sometimes night shift hours.
  • Ensure that all shipping and receiving documents, such as bills of lading, invoices, and packing lists, are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Manage the department's budget by negotiating rates with carriers, optimizing shipping methods, and analyzing freight costs to improve profitability.
  • Ensure a safe work environment including good housekeeping; enforcing use of required personal protective equipment.
  • Analyze current procedures to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
  • Implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy, completeness, and damage. This includes verifying items against purchase orders, bills of lading, and other documentation.
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Oversee inventory management, including conducting regular cycle counts and audits to ensure a high degree of inventory accuracy.
  • Responsible for investigating and resolving any inventory discrepancies.
  • Assist Manager when necessary.
  • Verify freight counts when loading trucks.
  • Address and resolve issues that arise in the shipping and receiving process, such as damaged goods, shipping delays, or incorrect deliveries.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the shipping and receiving department. This includes collaborating with customer service, purchasing, and production teams, as well as communicating with vendors and shipping carriers.
  • Adhere to and promote all safety policies and procedures including but not limited to, following all guidelines for machine guarding, the proper handling of hazardous waste, following lock out-tag out procedures and complying with the use of personal protective equipment
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • High logistical knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions and read a ruler.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of equipment used in departments such as scales.
  • Working knowledge of Google Drive, Microsoft, Excel and Word programs.
  • Attention to detail and teamwork / cooperation.
  • Experience operating electric pallet jack and forklift.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years shipping & receiving experience.
  • Technical training with printing concentration preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift 30 to 65 pounds
  • Must be able to walk, stand or climb for entire work shift (12 hours)
  • Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to push/pull up to 2200 pounds with use of a power lift truck
  • May be exposed to hot/humid and/or dusty work environment
