Accounting Specialist (Administrative)



Job Title: Accounting Specialist
Position Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our team as an Accounting Specialist. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting Sustainable Beef's financial operations by supporting cattle scheduling, claims, billing, and other processes as needed. This position requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining efficient, accurate processes. This position will report to the Plant Scheduler and will assist the accounting and purchasing team.

Key Responsibilities:
Data entry of invoices and posting items to the ERP.
Review invoices and match invoices to PO's, delivery slips, and/or other documents.
Ensure invoices have required approval, payment limits and backup prior to payment.
Process weekly payments, both check and ACH.

Cross-train within the Accounting Department, covering tasks such as AR, invoicing, and P&L preparation.
Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages daily.
Perform other Accounting and Administrative tasks as necessary to maintain department efficiency.
Manage the claims process for Sustainable Beef. Coordinate routinely with all necessary stakeholders and Sustainable Beef Departments to collect information and documentation to support accurate and timely resolution of all claims.
Maintain detailed claims files on all customers. Routinely study claims and customer files to identify trends with claims and customers; alert controller of these trends.
Enter and ensure correct cattle payment data for on time and accurate payments.
Assist with reviewing daily production schedule adherence.
Additional tasks assigned as needed.
Weekend work may be required on a scheduled basis.
Participate in training programs to improve skills.
Follow all company policies and procedures.
Create requisitions and order necessary office supplies through the ERP system.

Qualifications:
1-3 years experience is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of ERP systems is an asset.
Proficiency in computer applications, especially Excel and ERP systems.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
Ability to work well within a team and across multiple departments.
Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle stressful situations effectively.
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and follow-up skills to ensure task completion.
Strong desire to set goals, meet deadlines, and efficiently manage tasks with attention to detail.
Excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor.
Physical Requirements:
