Strategy & Business Development Principal - Evernorth Health Services - Hybrid (Finance)

As part of the Strategy & Business Development team, this position is responsible for supporting executive level recommendations and decisions in support of medium-term and long-term strategy development, execution decisions and prioritization. This role will work closely with business stakeholders, executive leaders, Enterprise and cross-enterprise strategy partners, the finance team, and product and growth leaders for the purpose of achieving long-term strategy and short-term results in the most optimal way.

The individual will support the business in developing comprehensive business strategies, new business ideation, cross-enterprise initiatives, and leading strategic projects in a data driven way.

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate within Evernorth, Cigna Healthcare and Enterprise Strategy teams to ensure alignment where appropriate.
  • Support, enhance, and update the Pharmacy & Care Delivery strategy and develop executive ready presentations, memos and discussion documents.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on market trends, competitive analysis, and internal performance metrics.
  • Drive the implementation of strategic projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of pharmacy and care delivery strategies, making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired results.
  • Drive inorganic and cross-enterprise business development projects in coordination with executive leadership, strategy development, business and finance leaders, and prepare and present executive level briefings on progress and outcomes.
  • Develop and present materials (memos, PowerPoint, etc) for leadership in support of initiatives, business development, and business strategy.
  • Organize and maintain matrix workgroups for business development projects, including high level project management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Collaborate and drive other projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years strategy development, strategic planning, and business development related work experience, leading major efforts to develop and present complex business discussions with senior and executive leadership.
  • Emotional Intelligence - Demonstrated strong EQ as evidenced by the ability to understand other people, what motivates them and how to work cooperatively with them. Proven track record of resilience, empathy, strong listening skills and the ability to work through challenging business situations in a highly collaborative way to drive the right business outcomes. Possesses strong self- awareness and curiosity.
  • Communication - Exceptional executive presence in written and verbal communications. Poise in front of large, senior audiences.
  • Anticipatory - Demonstrated results in being able to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into both a short-term and long-term organizational plan
  • Business Acumen - Strong business acumen and strategic thinking with pharmacy and care delivery business understanding.
  • Strategic Vision, Innovation and Agility - Ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the organizational plan and ability to identify and drive new/uncharted solutions, methodologies, etc.
  • Collaboration & Influence - Exceptional capacity leading and influencing cross-functional teams, strong relationship management skills with the ability to quickly learn and navigate the organizational in an effective manner.
  • Action Oriented - Self starter, motivated individual who works well under pressure. Must multi-task and prioritize to meet multiple deadlines. Enjoys working hard in a fast paced, dynamic environment; able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available; not afraid to take charge of a situation; can overcome resistance to leadership
  • BS/A degree, MBA degree preferred.
