Trade Manager (Finance)



The Trade Manager plays a crucial role in the development of Newport Shipyards Service Department. They hold intermediate knowledge and ability within the respective marine service industry. A Trade Manager works hand in hand with Project Managers in the development of schedules for jobs and tasks within the service department. This role then manages and leads the team in the execution of their commitments in keeping with the values of the company and assists in the development plans for Project Managers. They also provide regular input prior to, during, and following job/task execution on projects and interact with internal and external customers on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
Develop and mentor Project Managers and Tech Department heads in their respective trade both technically and personally by continual interaction through monthly development plans and assessments.
Develop and teach Project Managers to lead in a manner keeping with the company values. Work together with the Project Management staff and Logistics in developing schedules, costing, and defining the quality of jobs and tasks to be performed. Assist the Project Managers in the management of the jobs and tasks in accordance with the defined Quality, Cost, Delivery and Safety specifications. Perform daily time audits for techs and work order review assessments for project managers. Ensure appropriate materials are on-hand in a timely manner. Assist logistics in scheduling service work to meet company goals and objectives. Support Service Team in meeting quality standards and scheduled work. Manage and assist Project Managers with the activities of all subcontractors performing work within their designated trade, including, but not limited to, solicitation of quotes, PO requests, and general oversight of the work performed. Ensure compliance within respective shop and work areas on vessels and in the yard. Assist department techs in the maintenance and operation of all shop related equipment.

Technical Skills:
Possess skills and experience with Dock Master Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word Possess intermediate to advanced knowledge and technical ability in Marine Service
Experience
Basic knowledge of the skills related to the marine service industry.
Physical Requirements:
Able to stand for several hours Walk and climb stairs Remain outside in adverse weather for long periods of time Able to pick up 25 lbs.
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area. Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
