Estimator - Fab Shop (Athol) (Personal Services)



The Fab Estimator is responsible for planning and estimating machining projects in terms of time required and scope of work. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Prepare timely cost estimates for part manufacturing and assemblies.
  • Read & understand drawings to produce quote for sales.
  • Consult with personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Obtain quotes for material.
  • Successfully interact with sales, machine shop, fab shop, engineering, and others to obtain all the information required to establish accurate quotes.
  • Create purchase requisitions.
  • Follow up on jobs to ensure quote rates are accurate.
  • Confirm customer orders match our quote before processing (pricing, technical data, approved signed customer drawings).
  • Other duties as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three or more years of experience in estimating machined parts in a job shop or manufacturing environment.
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of CNC machine operations strongly preferred.
    • Well organized and detail oriented with the ability to work under pressure.
    • Strong computer skills including the ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
    • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
    • Strong mathematical & analytical skills.
    • Highly motivated & driven.
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid driver's license

SALARY RANGE: 

  • $64,000 - $84,000 per year 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.

  • Bend at waist – occasional
  • Twist upper body – occasional
  • Stoop - occasional
  • Repetitive use of hands – frequent for clerical duties
  • Stand/walk – frequent
  • Sit – occasional
  • Vision – near and far correctable; depth perception
  • Hearing – preferred for awareness of surrounding machinery, mobile equipment, emergencies

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).
