Research Assistant II - Neurology (Morales Lab) (Finance)
UTHealth Houston's Neurology Research department is seeking a full-time, benefits-eligible Research Assistant II to join their team in the Morales Lab. The RA II will work under close direction of the PI or senior research staff, conducting activities to support research projects according to research protocols. Research activities may include some or all of the following: traditional laboratory experiments and activities, informatics, maintaining animal laboratory colonies, genotyping, and performing research on prion diseases. May maintain clean laboratory equipment and/or work area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. Collects, evaluates, and interprets research data to provide needed information to principal investigators and other researchers. Updates notebooks, records, and databases as needed. Stays abreast of new and updated protocols for the research department. Order laboratory and/or other supplies as directed by senior research staff. As needed, may coordinate the work of laboratory technicians and assistants to ensure efficient, timely, and high-quality results. Complies with all governmental and University polices, rules, regulations, and codes. Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Key Accountabilities:
Certification/Skills:
General knowledge and some detailed concepts of research field assigned.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.
Minimum Experience:
One year of related experience in a research or clinical lab environment.
May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.

Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
