Associate Product Manager - Hybrid Remote (Architecture)



Job Summary
This position, under the direction of the Senior Product Manager, Content Partnerships, will support the research, development, launch, operations, and management of strategic products and partnerships for IEEE. The role will be key in executing on content and business development, partner relations, market research, business plan development, and day-to-day activities that support the management of products to ensure they deliver results that meet customer requirements and drive new IEEE revenue. Support can included working with the team to create new products, license IEEE content, acquire third-party content, and supporting other strategic initiatives. The position will work closely with the Senior Product Managers as well as customers, market research, sales, publications management, marketing, technology, finance, and platform management in the support of a portfolio of IEEE products and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • This position will be responsible for working with stakeholders and helping to manage a broad portfolio of products including managing product roadmaps, ensuring product profitability by monitoring profit & loss statements, managing product positioning and helping to successfully launch products. These responsibilities will apply to:
  • Manage day-to-day support projects for existing products in the portfolio
  • Complete tasks that lead to the creation of new platforms, subscriptions, and Open Access products
  • Research, operations, and due diligence for acquiring content for IEEE products and services

Additional Responsibilities

  • Manages select existing products definitions to ensure continued profitability and customer satisfaction; Coordinates, leads, and manages internal and external stakeholders to set product and launch expectations; Ensures accurate reporting of results and establish metrics to ensure continued product contributions to IEEE goals, revenue and profit objectives
  • Executes on research and data analytics projects that help product management understand workflows, market needs, customer engagement, and key market trends and issues, user/buyer personas and processes, and purchase drivers, competition
  • Leverages relationships with IEEE colleagues, volunteers, and partners to coordinate and support the process of evaluating new business ideas and integrate customer needs into this process
  • Supports day-to-day maintenance of partners and existing products including creating and submitting requirements for enhancements, working on contract amendments, gathering and organizing internal stakeholder feedback as needed.
  • Works with internal stakeholders, external marketing firms, and customer / prospects to support business plans and the development of business cases
  • Collaborates with Publications teams, IEEE societies, Platform Management, Sales, Customer Service, Finance, Product Marketing, Pricing & Strategic Analysis, and Technology to execute on plans to meet product objectives and report on metrics and key results to help guide and measure success.
  • With direction from product managers, keeps track of competitive intelligence, including emerging competitive news from society/commercial publishers and information aggregators.
  • Helps analyze overall go-to-market effectiveness, pricing, promotions, product bundles, positioning, sales, and present solutions to drive performance
  • Works with product marketing to define, refine, expand, and promote value propositions for each product and service driving growth and revenue for the business
  • Supports processes for capturing field intelligence, from the sales channel, which will include: competitive intelligence, behavioral segmentation data, and other relevant market information.
  • With direction, helps identifies high quality relevant content for inclusion in IEEE products and create and maintain relationships with these content partners
  • Monitors product metrics – sales, usage, customer satisfaction, etc. to ensure product continues to meet customer / user objectives and requirements.
  • Develops reporting of these metrics to inform leadership of product growth.
  • Coordinates product launch efforts with IT and Platform teams, including writing requirements and providing needed information
  • Up to 10% travel time required.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Business or related field Req

Work Experience

  • Approximately 4-7 years' experience developing skills outlined above, preferably in a product and marketing environment. Req

Skills and Requirements

  • Experience with an STM or other relevant B2B publisher a plus. Experience with engineering discipline a plus.
  • The ideal candidate needs to be motivated, enthusiastic, detail oriented and able to work independently for some projects or as part of a team for others.
  • Strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills needed.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Copywriting and proofreading skills required.
  • CRM database experience a plus.
  • Strong research and information gathering skills.
  • Strong analytical, reasoning, and strategic thinking with demonstrated ability to self-direct, analyze, evaluate, and form independent judgments
  • Possess strong analytical and planning skills, solid project management skills and very detail-oriented. Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Self-starter as well as a team player. Passionate learner, innovator, and effective communicator.
  • Strong written and oral presentation / communication skills
  • Experience writing business requirements for product launches and enhancements
  • Experience reviewing contracts and legal documents from a business perspective is preferred
