We are seeking an Emergency Technician to: - Communicate directly with providers, RN's, patients, patient's families, and other caregivers regarding care for patients in the Emergency Department. - Accurately record information in the Electronic Medical Record. - Respond to pages/codes accordingly and assist as directed. - Act as an observer for behavior health complaints. Education: Minimum – Completion of EMT and currently enrolled in Advanced EMT (AEMT) program. Preferred - Completion of AEMT or Paramedic program. Work Experience: Preferred – Relevant experience in Emergency Departments, Hospitals, or other healthcare entities to include EMS. Licenses and Certifications: Minimum – CPR/BLS certification. Will consider Basic EMT (BEMT) candidates currently enrolled in an AEMT program. Preferred – National Registry or Wisconsin Advanced Emergency Medical Technician or Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic license. ACLS certification. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: - Knowledge of Standard Precaution techniques and ability to incorporate Standard Precaution techniques while providing patient care. - Knowledge of safety measures used during provision of patient care. - Knowledge and ability to practice aseptic technique. - Ability to read in order to interpret type and level of patient care ordered, to record patient vital signs, and to understand and follow instruction related to basic patient care. - Ability to learn patient care procedures and apply patient safety protocols. - Ability to understand the use of patient care equipment and supplies and the principles of infections control. - Ability to work under a fast-paced and stressful environment. - Ability to observe and accurately report on the condition of the patient. - Ability to communicate directly with physicians, nursing staff, patients, and patient families to receive instructions on the treatment plan and report changes in the patient's condition. Physical Requirements: Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. W ork Schedule: 90% FTE, 36 hours per week. Scheduled shifts are Monday through Friday between the hours of 3:00 PM - 7:30 AM with weekend and holiday rotation. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.
