Platform Engagement Specialist (E6000) (Information Technology)



Job Summary
The Platform Engagement Specialist will play a critical role in enhancing awareness, registrations, user engagement and satisfaction across IEEE Collabratec, IEEE Volunteering, and other assigned platforms. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Member Platforms, this position has no direct reports and supports the senior manager with coordinating and executing all aspects of platform marketing, communications, and online engagement tactics. Success in this role will be measured by the engagement specialist's ability to achieve the following goals: increasing IEEE Reach and delivering increased User Engagement.
The Platform Engagement Specialist will thrive in a data-driven marketing environment, and possess exemplary project management skills to deliver on a diverse set of creative and analytical objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Platform Marketing (50%)
  • User Engagement: Execute engagement tactics to increase user activity on, and satisfaction with IEEE Member platforms.
  • Community Support: Provide support to platform users, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive user experience.
  • Content Management: Curate and manage content to keep platforms vibrant and relevant, including moderating discussions and promoting valuable contributions.
  • New Member Recruitment: Work directly with membership marketing, creating and delivering efforts to turn non-member users into IEEE members
  • Event Coordination: Organize and support virtual events, webinars, and other activities to drive engagement and community building.
  • Project Management: Serve as the project management lead and subject matter expert for each platform's marketing program and engagement reporting, supported by best-in-class campaign and data analytics.
  • Platform Analytics & Reporting (20%)
  • Weekly and Monthly Reviews: Conduct reviews of trending reports, utilizing analytics to enhance the execution of external marketing and platform engagement strategies.
  • Trend Monitoring: Maintain up-to-date records of all trends related to platform registrants and engagement.
  • Reporting: Consolidate and summarize reports for senior management as requested, providing clear and actionable insights.
  • Dashboard Improvements: Recommend enhancements to analytics dashboards to yield better insights into the correlation and causality between marketing efforts and user engagement.
  • Review platform analytics and recommend opportunities to sunset functions that are no longer generating community engagement.
  • Community Mobilization & Engagement (20%)
  • Strategy Development: Create, recommend, and implement content strategies to enhance community engagement in support of platform engagement goals.
  • User Support: Provide assistance and conduct workshops for platform users, helping them maximize their use and productivity on the platforms.
  • Platform Improvement: Recommend to Information Management enhancements to the platform to fix issues, boost user satisfaction, and foster increased community engagement. Recommend opportunities to sunset features no longer delivering value to users.
  • Community Launches: Plan and execute community launch programs, including promotion plans and soft launches, to ensure successful onboarding and sustained engagement.
  • .Develop, recommend, and implement effective community moderation efforts to maintain a safe, respectful, and engaging environment. This includes establishing clear community guidelines, proactively monitoring interactions, and using tools to filter spam and inappropriate content
  • Vendor Procurement / Payment Coordination (10%)
  • In support of senior manager, assist with coordinating purchase requisitions for vendors contributing to the platforms
  • Processes and tracks vendor invoices, to ensure timely payment
  • Other duties and ad hoc project requests as assigned.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in marketing, or business related degree Req
Work Experience
  • 2-4 years or more experience in product marketing, preferably online products and/or online communities Req
  • 2-4 years experience with project managing and evaluating end-to-end, marketing and online engagement programs Req
  • 2-4 years experience in data analytics and producing analytics trending reports and charting Req
  • 2-4 years experience with vendor coordination Pref
Skills and Requirements
  • Excellent copywriting, editing and communication skills
  • Experience using artificial intelligence tools to increase productivity and content development
  • Attention to detail and discipline to follow established policies and processes, or create new processes as desired
  • Ability to shift focus/multi-task in fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects – inclusive of partnering with external marketing agencies
  • Comfortable working under tight deadlines on both individual and team-based projects
  • Understand, refine, and clearly articulate compelling messaging, differentiation and positioning with products
  • Ensure consistency of messaging internally, as well as with all external communications, including social media, search engine marketing, email, and other digital channels
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with staff, volunteers and vendors
  • Microsoft and Google tool suites, inclusive of AI tools
  • Experience with Marketo, Google Analytics and/or Tableau highly desirable
  • Familiarity with data privacy and applications in IEEE systems and governance.
  • Some domestic and/or international travel required; ability to travel up to 4x per year based on business needs. Travel and some virtual meetings may be on weekends and after normal business hours to accommodate the global membership and volunteer timezones and schedules.
  • Proficient with Virtual Meeting tools such as Google Meet, WebEx, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams
