Landscape Construction Estimator (Architecture)



Job Description: Estimator
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join our landscaping business. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, preparing competitive bids and proposals, and collaborating with clients and internal teams to ensure successful project outcomes. Your expertise in estimating techniques, cost analysis, and project management will play a key role in the growth and profitability of our landscaping business.
Responsibilities:
Project Estimation:Review project specifications, drawings, and client requirements to understand project scope.Conduct site visits and assessments to gather necessary information for accurate cost estimation.Analyze project plans and specifications to identify materials, equipment, and labor requirements.Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing for materials and services.Utilize estimating software and tools to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
Cost Analysis and Pricing:Evaluate cost factors, including labor, materials, equipment, permits, and subcontractor services.Perform cost analysis to identify potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.Develop pricing strategies that align with the company's financial goals and market competitiveness.Prepare detailed and accurate cost breakdowns, including quantities, unit costs, and total project costs.Ensure pricing accuracy and competitiveness through ongoing market research and benchmarking.
Bid Preparation and Proposal Development:Prepare and submit competitive bids and proposals to clients in a timely manner.Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop compelling and client-focused proposals.Ensure bids and proposals align with project requirements, specifications, and client expectations.Review and understand contractual terms, conditions, and legal requirements.Participate in bid review meetings and negotiations with clients.
Client Communication and Relationship Management:Interact with clients to understand their project goals, objectives, and budget constraints.Communicate effectively and professionally with clients to address questions, concerns, and requests.Provide value engineering suggestions and cost-saving alternatives to clients when appropriate.Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and exceptional customer service.Collaborate with clients to clarify project scope, requirements, and timelines.
Internal Collaboration:Work closely with internal teams, such as sales, design, operations, and project management.Collaborate with designers and engineers to ensure accurate interpretation of project specifications.Communicate project requirements and cost breakdowns to the operations team for project execution.Coordinate with project managers to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to project implementation.Provide ongoing support and clarification to internal teams regarding project estimates and cost considerations.
Estimating Process Improvement:Continuously evaluate and improve the estimating process, tools, and templates.Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve accuracy, and reduce estimating cycle times.Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and technological advancements in estimating practices.Participate in professional development activities, such as training and conferences, to enhance estimating skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, or a related field (preferred).Proven experience (3+ years) in project estimation, preferably in the landscaping or construction industry.Strong knowledge of landscaping materials, methods, and cost factors.Proficiency in estimating software and tools.Solid understanding of project management principles and practices.Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Familiarity with legal and contractual terms and conditions.Valid driver's license.
