Assistant Vice President, USF Health Development (Finance)



The Assistant Vice President for USF Health Development will advance USF Health's philanthropic mission by leading the development and execution of a comprehensive grateful patient fundraising strategy. The Assistant Vice President will drive revenue and engagement through innovative and personalized approaches, while managing and mentoring a team of major gift officers. With a focus on building long term relationships, the Assistant Vice President will work closely with deans, faculty, healthcare providers, and other key stakeholders to identify and cultivate potential major gift donors. By establishing clear fundraising goals, implementing effective donor recognition programs, and collaborating with various fundraising departments, the Assistant Vice President will ensure the success of USF Health's fundraising initiatives and contribute to the institution's continued growth and impact.Bachelor's degree -OR- equivalent combination of education and experience.

A minimum of ten (10) years of related experience.

A minimum of five (5) years managerial experience.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive grateful patient fundraising strategy that drives revenue and engagement;
  • Manage and mentor a team of major gift officers, setting clear goals, providing guidance, and fostering professional development;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with grateful patients, their families, and other key stakeholders to foster long-term support;
  • Develop annual and multi-year fundraising goals, strategies, and metrics aligned with institutional priorities and financial needs;
  • Partner with clinical department chairs, faculty, physicians, healthcare providers, and staff across USF Health to identify grateful patients and facilitate donor engagement;
  • Identify and qualify potential major gift donors within the grateful patient pool, and lead personalized cultivation and solicitation strategies;
  • Build and manage a select portfolio of high value prospects across USF Health;
  • Design and implement donor recognition and stewardship programs to acknowledge and celebrate contributions;
  • Ensure accurate tracking of donor data, gift histories, and progress toward fundraising goals and generate regular reports for leadership;
  • Partner with other fundraising departments (annual giving, planned giving, alumni relations) to integrate grateful patient giving into broader campaigns;
  • Coordinate with the marketing and communications teams to create compelling materials that highlight the impact of gifts;
  • Oversee or participate in organizing donor events, including recognition events and special donor meetings, to enhance donor engagement and fundraising; and
  • Ensure all fundraising activities comply with legal and ethical standards, institutional policies, and donor expectations.
