Supervisor Data Center (Administrative)

ABOUT THE ROLE

As the Data Center Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising the Data Center Operations, ensuring performance, availability, security and colocation services are maintained and delivered in accordance with established policies and procedures. In this role, you be responsible for providing first-class support to Data Center and Network customers within the 24 x 7 x 365 Network Operations Center (NOC) that serves as our front line for customers. This position is responsible for supporting Data Center Technicians as they respond to Data Center support requests, resolve customer issues, and respond to and triage infrastructure alarms. Responsibilities include delivering new network services, data center customer installs, and troubleshooting within the Philadelphia Data Center Facilities. You'll be expected to interface frequently with customers, provide colo tours, and oversee vendor maintenance of our critical infrastructure.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide supervision of day-to-day data center operations, manage team assignments, support training initiatives, and maintain reporting.
  • Oversee vendor maintenance, support critical infrastructure repairs and installation projects, including routine inspections.
  • Respond to operational issues related to data center and core infrastructure, including network, power, HVAC, security, fire suppression with the aid of Building Monitoring System (BMS) and Network Monitoring System (NMS)
  • Coordinate and perform installation and configuration of customer servers, power and networking equipment including rack-and-stack, cable management, labeling and documentation
  • Assist clients with remote hands requests including software installation, administration, maintenance and troubleshooting tasks
  • Provide off-hours and on-call support for remote hands requests, planned and emergency/critical data center events
  • Inspect and accept daily courier / freight deliveries of customer equipment, log receipts, notify and stage items for clients
  • Participate as a stakeholder in process improvement, implementation, and methods related to Data Center Operations

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

Education Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree (AA) or equivalent work experience - Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) - Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with data center networks, operations, and critical facilities infrastructure Required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data center operations, including power and cooling systems, network infrastructure, and server hardware, to effectively manage and maintain the facility
  • Strong leadership skills to oversee and coordinate the activities of data center technicians, ensuring smooth operations and timely resolution of any issues or disruptions
  • Proficiency in implementing and adhering to data center security protocols and procedures, including access controls, surveillance systems, and disaster recovery plans, to safeguard critical infrastructure and sensitive data.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with excellent problem-solving abilities to quickly identify and address any technical challenges.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to present complex information in a clear and simple format

Where You Will Work
Office: Works onsite in a normal office or data center setting and may require some travel as needed.

Environmental Conditions

  • This position requires work in a variety of environmental conditions, including exposure to extreme temperatures (both hot and cold), loud noise, and potential exposure to dust, fumes, and other airborne particles.
  • This position requires work in an industrial setting, with possible exposure to carbon emissions, and other industrial byproducts. Appropriate PPE will be provided.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working in environments with fluctuating temperatures, and be able to perform physical labor in those conditions.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to tolerate and work within environments that may include vibrations, and loud noises.

Additional Considerations

  • This position may require working irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, and may involve on-call availability.
