Director HSE (Finance)

An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Center of Excellence (COE) Director. This is a key global leadership role within the Industrial Automation (IA) Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) organization and provides Environmental, Occupational Safety and Process Safety subject matter expertise support to our manufacturing locations throughout the world.

This position reports to the Director - HSE Governance and Process Excellence and is based in Charlotte NC.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Developing and driving HSE compliance and other improvement programs across IA.
  • Partnering with Site HSE leaders, Site Managers and others to gather input for program design and support deployment.
  • Supporting HSE culture change improvements, compliance and risk reduction, as well as business growth, utilizing hands-on expertise.
  • Oversight of functional resources to provide hands-on assistance for root cause and other interventions when and where needed.
  • Identifying emerging HSE issues and solutions to keep IA ahead of future regulations.
  • Supporting HSE auditing needs including support for IA Compliance Assurance Assessments, Corporate HSE and PSM Audits and others as appropriate.
  • Developing organizational capability by providing practical training and coaching for HSE resources across IA.
  • Strong partnership with the business GBE Leadership, HSE leaders, Corporate HSE and regional/functional leaders as appropriate.
  • Developing and executing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) strategy to support business growth.

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental science, engineering, chemistry or related science discipline required
  • Minimum 15 years progressive experience in Health, Safety and Environment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 10 years in positions of progressive leadership including people management required

  • Possesses excellent executive communication skills with the courage to stand alone/have an independent point of view, even if others disagree
  • Ability to make the complex simple, identify where problems are occurring and deploy a robust root cause to improve processes; experience driving continuous improvement
  • Proven track-record of managing in a large, complex organizations or functions
  • Demonstrated success driving significant organization change which includes driving role clarity and accountability with high standards
  • Influencing skills and integrative thinking with a demonstrated ability to work with and through others
  • Excellent listening, influencing and persuasion skills
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. and relevant international HS&E laws, permitting requirements and regulations.
