Student Programs Coordinator- Campus Recreation (Finance)



Reporting to the Associate Director of Campus Recreation, the Aquatics and Facility Coordinator support the daily operations of the Edge and Aquatics areas within Campus Recreation by ensuring safe, sustainable, and inclusive environments for students, staff, and external partners. This role oversees aquatics programming, facility reservations, staff development, and risk management initiatives. Responsibilities include supervising student staff, assisting with pool maintenance and water quality, managing safety certifications, and supporting financial and operational planning for facility use and events. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, or related field.
  • \n
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in recreation facility or aquatics management. (Graduate Assistantship may substitute for 1 year experience)
  • \n
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
  • \n
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of pool maintenance and risk management practices.
  • \n
\n
  Preferred Qualifications:
\n
    \n
  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Recreation, Sports Management, or related field.
  • \n
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification.
  • \n
  • Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification.
  • \n
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer.
  • \n
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification.
  • \n
  • Experience with facility scheduling software (e.g. EMS, Subitup and Fusion).
  • \n
  • Experience managing multi-use indoor spaces and outdoor spaces
  • \n

  • Aquatics Management
    Responsibilities include designing and delivering safety certification courses such as CPR, AED, First Aid, Lifeguarding, and Swim Lessons. The coordinator evaluates program offerings regularly, incorporating participant feedback and aligning with industry standards to ensure quality and relevance. This role also involves developing and enforcing facility policies and procedures to maintain a safe and efficient environment. Additionally, the coordinator assists with routine pool and facility maintenance, monitors and adjusts water quality parameters such as chemistry, temperature, and cleanliness, and works closely with partners to coordinate necessary repairs.

  • Facility Management
    Responsibilities include assisting with facility and equipment reservations for both internal and external groups, ensuring efficient scheduling and space utilization. The coordinator supports the management of scheduling software and related technologies to streamline operations. Additionally, they lead and promote facility-based programs and sustainable initiatives, such as the Bike Checkout Program. The role also involves tracking and reporting data related to facility usage, program attendance, and revenue to inform strategic planning and resource allocation.

  • Staff Development
    Responsibilities include staff management, with a primary focus on lifeguards, aquatics personnel, and student employees supporting Edge operations and events. The coordinator actively recruits, hires, and trains staff to ensure they are well-prepared to deliver safe, high-quality services. This role also involves creating and maintaining staff schedules that align with program and facility needs, while providing ongoing supervision, support, and performance evaluations. Through consistent coaching and feedback, the coordinator fosters a positive and professional work environment that promotes student development, accountability, and leadership growth.

  • Risk Management
    Responsibilities include overseeing safety protocols for both daily operations and special events to ensure a secure environment for all participants. The coordinator manages employee certification records, ensuring that all staff are up to date with required training and in compliance with established standards. This role also involves conducting audits and maintaining accurate documentation related to certifications. Additionally, the coordinator develops and enforces operational policies and procedures to promote consistent and safe facility usage across all programs and activities.

  • Financial Oversight
    Responsibilities include assisting with budget planning, processing external rental invoices, and managing payments in collaboration with the Assistant Director. This support ensures accurate financial tracking and helps maintain efficient and transparent fiscal operations within the department.
