Evening Producer, KMGH (Finance)



Join KMGH, The E.W. Scripps ABC affiliate in Denver as a News Producer and become the creative force behind our compelling newscasts. In this role, you'll craft stories that connect with our Colorado community, organize content across multiple platforms, and make real-time decisions that keep our viewers informed and engaged. Your journalistic skills and creative vision will help shape how Denver gets its news.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Develop and organize engaging newscasts and local programs
  • Write and showcase compelling stories that resonate with our audience
  • Collaborate with reporters, anchors, news managers and assignment editors to determine content needs
  • Enhance content with graphics, video, research and station branding
  • Execute time-sensitive decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Oversee live broadcasts and make up-to-the-minute editorial decisions
  • Perform desktop editing to create polished segments
  • Post content to station's websites
  • Work flexible hours as needed, including holidays, weekends and evenings

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • BS/BA in journalism, communications or related discipline preferred, or equivalent years of experience
  • Generally, 2+ years of experience in a related field preferred

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Strong knowledge of local news as an avid consumer who knows daily events, trends and happenings in Denver
  • Strong vision and ability to advance stories
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Passion for writing with attention to detail including word choice, grammar and spelling
  • High level of organization in a deadline-driven environment
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced newsroom setting
  • Strong self-motivation
  • Working knowledge of journalistic ethics, libel laws and strong editorial judgment
  • Ability to use web analytics to inform content decisions
  • Proficiency with newsroom computer systems and MS Office

COMPENSATION RANGE:

Hourly: $31.73 - 33.65


 

Pursuant to state and local salary transparency laws, the salary range posted is specific to candidates who will perform this work in Colorado.
