Field EHS Asset Lead (Healthcare)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Asset Lead is responsible for EHS activities within the field asset to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and EHS initiatives. The Field EHS Asset Lead reports to the Safety Manager and works closely with the WY Field EHS Asset Manager — Safety and the WY Field EHS Asset Manager — Environmental to align programs. This role utilizes experience and knowledge of oil and gas production operations in daily EHS duties. This position requires building strong working relationships with the Jonah Energy field operations team and contractors.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create a work environment that is consistent with the company's Purpose, Vision & Core Values.
  • Understand and adhere to company safety protocols on all work performed.
  • Support Jonah Energy Contractor Management procedures including ISNet compliance (third-party platform for safety program and other evaluations) and safety orientation training.
  • Review project safety plans and perform worksite safety observations for various types of work including day-to-day production activities, drilling support, completion activities, remediation activities, facility and pipeline construction/maintenance/repair and well workover activities.
  • Manage Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) and Audio, Visual, and Olfactory (AVO) program including inspection schedules, route changes, and staffing schedules. Work with the LDAR team and operations to develop the department and interdepartmental efficiencies. Ensure compliance with NM agency regulations regarding LDAR/AVO.
  • Pilot unmanned aerial drone for methane measurement as needed.
  • Repair leaking equipment, in accordance with Jonah Energy repair procedures, as needed.
  • Operate optical gas imaging (OGI) camera (or other OGI equipment) and/or high-flow sampler to identify leaks and quantify fugitive emissions. Calibrate equipment utilized for emission control and monitoring.
  • Oversee/monitor continuous emissions monitoring alerts and coordinate response/repairs.
  • Coordinate environmental clean-up operations. Work with agencies, operations, and Contractors to perform remediation actions. Utilize photoionization detectors (PID) to support remediation activities. Coordinate with EHS Leadership with data gathering for reports.
  • Accurately enter detailed documentation into company software systems for review.
  • Provide support for periodic employee and contractor safety meetings.
  • Manage / supervise contractors for repair of issues identified by operations team and LDAR program.
  • Support management / supervise construction contractors for repair of equipment as identified by operations team.
  • Work closely with the operations team to coordinate repair of equipment to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Verify operational readiness of repairs and provide critical QA/QC support of contractor work for operations team.
  • Support operations as needed, including project and contractor staff continuity, contractor oversight support and other duties as determined by team.
  • Maintain respectful and productive working relationships within and across all work groups, ensuring effective collaboration and cooperation.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong working knowledge of safety best practices in oil and gas field operations.
  • Solid working knowledge and experience of fundamental operations of oil and gas production equipment (e.g., separators, pneumatic devices, various pumps, etc.).
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations impacting upstream oil and gas field operations.
  • Strong attention to detail to produce accurate and safe work.
  • Technically skilled to learn and be proficient with EHS management system software, applications, and field forms.
  • Strong leadership skills to lead up and down the chain of command.
  • Build positive and effective relationships with teams at various levels across the company.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Self-starter; under limited supervision work in a lean team with varying degrees of direction; work well under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effectively converse with all levels of the company, customers, business associates.
  • Professional integrity and accountability.
  • Work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in EHS in the upstream oil & gas industry.
  • 5+ years or more of progressive experience with LDAR program.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

  • Certified OGI Thermographer or obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 license or obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in EHS in the upstream oil & gas industry.
  • 8+ years or more of progressive experience with LDAR program.
  • Experience with construction project management and QA/QC of construction execution.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science Degree

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification
  • Line Locator Certification

Jonah Energy determines the salary level for potential new employees by considering a candidate's experience, skills, and education, along with the position's work location, external market conditions and internal pay equity.

This position is eligible for a 9/80 hybrid work schedule after 30-days of employment. Work is performed at office on Tuesdays through Thursdays, remote work on Mondays and Fridays.
