Janitorial Services Program Director (Maintenance)

Position Summary
The Janitorial Services Program Director will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of comprehensive housekeeping and janitorial programs across our multi-state portfolio. This strategic leadership role requires a hands-on professional who can balance operational excellence with program innovation while ensuring compliance across diverse care environments.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development & Implementation
Design and implement standardized housekeeping and janitorial training programs across all facility typesCreate comprehensive policies, procedures, and quality standards for environmental servicesDevelop facility-specific protocols that address unique requirements for memory care, skilled nursing, and independent living environmentsEstablish performance metrics and quality assurance programs to ensure consistent service deliveryRegulatory Compliance & SafetyMaintain expert knowledge of OSHA regulations and procedures, with particular emphasis on North Carolina and South Carolina requirementsEnsure all programs meet federal, state, and local health department standardsDevelop and maintain infection control protocols in collaboration with clinical teamsConduct regular compliance audits and implement corrective action plans
Vendor & Supply Chain Management
Manage relationships with housekeeping and janitorial service providers across multiple statesCollaborate with Accounts Payable department to streamline vendor payment processes and resolve billing issuesPartner with Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) to leverage buying power and stay current with industry best practicesOversee supply inventory management, budget planning, and spend-down activitiesNegotiate contracts and service level agreements with vendors
Operations & Field Support
Travel up to 50% of time to provide on-site support and consultation to communitiesWork directly with facility leadership to troubleshoot housekeeping and janitorial challengesCollaborate with operations field leadership to ensure program alignment with overall facility operationsConduct regular site visits for quality assurance and staff training
Leadership & Collaboration
Report directly to Senior Vice President of OperationsPartner closely with CEO, COO, Finance Department, and ownership team on strategic initiativesLead cross-functional teams to address operational challenges and opportunitiesMentor and develop local housekeeping supervisors and staff
Budget & Financial Management
Develop and manage departmental budgets across all locationsMonitor costs and identify opportunities for operational efficienciesProvide financial analysis and reporting to senior leadershipEnsure proper spend-down procedures and budget adherence
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field preferredMinimum 5-7 years of experience in housekeeping/janitorial management, preferably in healthcare or senior livingProven track record of program development and multi-site operations managementExperience with vendor management and contract negotiation
Technical Skills & Knowledge
Expert knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety procedures, particularly in NC and SCStrong understanding of infection control practices in healthcare environmentsProficiency in budget management and financial analysisKnowledge of Group Purchasing Organization operations and benefitsExperience with inventory management systems and supply chain optimization
Leadership & Communication
Demonstrated ability to lead and influence teams across multiple locationsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong problem-solving and analytical abilitiesAbility to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholdersExperience in training program development and delivery
Physical Requirements & Travel
Ability to travel up to 50% of time across Southeast regionPhysical capability to conduct facility inspections and hands-on trainingFlexibility to work various shifts and respond to urgent operational needs
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in related fieldProfessional certifications in facility management or environmental servicesExperience with healthcare accreditation standards (Joint Commission, CMS)Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish) preferredExperience with senior living or long-term care operations
