The Opportunity

As we continue to expand, A&M Energy is seeking Managers and Directors with experience in commercial due diligence, market studies, and strategy consulting to support our growing transaction and strategic advisory work. This role will support private equity and corporate clients evaluating investment opportunities, entering new markets, or assessing portfolio performance across the energy and chemicals space.

You will be responsible for leading and delivering high-stakes projects including commercial diligence engagements, market assessments, competitive landscape reviews, growth strategy development, and go-to-market analysis.

Job Title: Manager / Director - Strategy & Commercial Diligence, Energy & Chemicals Practice

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead or contribute to commercial due diligence and market study engagements for private equity and corporate clients in the energy and chemicals sectors
  • Develop market models, industry forecasts, and competitive assessments that inform investment decisions or strategic direction
  • Structure complex problems, develop strategic frameworks, and synthesize insights into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Build client-ready slides and presentations that tell a compelling and data-backed story
  • Interface directly with client stakeholders, including investment professionals and corporate executives
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, sector experts, and clients to deliver high-quality work under tight timelines
  • Support business development efforts through proposal development, thought leadership, and client relationship building

Required Skillset:

  • Proven experience in management consulting with a focus on commercial due diligence, market studies, or corporate strategy
  • Ability to structure ambiguous problems and develop clear, insightful frameworks
  • Exceptional communication skills-both written and verbal-with strong slide writing and storytelling capabilities
  • Deep knowledge of or experience working in the energy and/or chemicals industry
  • Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in Excel; familiarity with PowerPoint, research databases, and basic modeling
  • MBA is a plus
  • Exposure to private equity clients or deal environments is a strong advantage
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting
  • Comfortable with travel

Qualifications:

  • 5-10+ years of relevant experience in management consulting, private equity, or corporate strategy roles with a focus on commercial due diligence, market assessments, or strategic growth projects
  • Demonstrated experience in the energy and/or chemicals industry, either through consulting engagements or in-house roles (upstream, midstream, downstream, refining, utilities, renewables, or chemicals)
  • Proven ability to structure ambiguous problems, develop market frameworks, and synthesize findings into actionable insights
  • Strong slide-writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to build client-ready deliverables and communicate complex ideas clearly
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with market research databases and financial modeling is a plus
  • Client-facing experience required; ability to present to and engage with senior stakeholders effectively
  • For Manager level: Experience leading workstreams or small teams, contributing to client presentations, and supporting project delivery in a collaborative environment
  • For Director level: Proven track record of managing entire client engagements, owning deliverables, leading client communication, and contributing to business development (e.g., proposals, relationship building)
  • Exposure to private equity clients or M&A transaction environments strongly preferred
  • MBA preferred but not required
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting

The salary range for Manager is $135,000-$160,000 annually and Director is $150,000-$210,000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.
