In this exciting role as Electrical Engineer II, you will have the responsibility and authority to perform engineering work in basic and applied research, development, and/or design of new products. Work includes design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of electronic apparatus, components of circuitry for use in biomedical devices.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for digital and analog electrical engineering activities to support products and processes in the areas of product development, product design, support, test, quality assurance, and research.

Able to develop a product through all phases of defining design requirements, designing electronic circuits and programmable logic, testing circuits and systems, documenting the design, and verifying the design.

Design and implement electronic circuits (digital and analog) utilizing electrical circuit development tools, digital signal processing, control systems, and microelectronics.

Select electronic components; develop circuit boards and wiring harnesses.

Redesign, test and qualify legacy circuits and obsolete component replacements.

Lead cross-functional product development teams.

Effectively plan and estimate project deliverables, project resources, project spending and project completion dates.

Participate in or lead the definition of product/design requirements and system architecture development.

Provide support for existing products through failure analysis of returned product to identify root-cause.

Develop experimental hardware and software to support experimental protocols, draft technical papers, and develop hardware and software tools to support experimental protocols.

All activities must be performed in compliance with the Quality System.

Performs duties in compliance with environmental, health and safety related site rules, policies or government regulations.

Ability to travel up to: 10%

Must Have (Minimum Requirements)

B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or other related engineering field.

Minimum 2 years of experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience.

Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)

Knowledge of and experience with IEC 60601-1 technical standards for the safety and essential performance of medical electrical equipment is desired.

PCBA Computer Aided Design experience is required (Altium Designer desired)

Detailed analog and digital design, test and measurement equipment operation.

Able to use and apply technical principles, theories, concepts and techniques.

Experience designing and developing products in a regulated industry preferred.

Working knowledge and experience with communication interface design such as CAN, Ethernet, RFID

Hardware performance capability analysis using statistical methods

Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of large scope and complexity.

Product design experience with the Six-Sigma methodologies preferred

Ability to work under only general direction while independently determining the approach to problems and solutions.

Good written and verbal communication skills; including technical writing skills and effective use of Microsoft Office applications.

Able to work and communicate effectively with other engineers, designers, surgeons, marketers and suppliers to develop products from concept through commercialization in a cross-functional team.

Handle multiple tasks/projects and manage priorities accordingly.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$106,400.00 - $159,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
