Senior Director, Finance (Finance)



JOB SUMMARY

The Sr. Regional Finance Director will serve as a key member of the Americas Leadership Team helping shape business strategy and execution for the $1b+ Americas business. The role is the key Finance figurehead for the Americas Go To Market organization with multi-disciplinary accountabilities encompassing financial planning and analysis (FP&A), treasury management, statutory compliance, and elements of accounting operations / internal controls. This role will lead and develop high-performing finance teams (direct and indirect), ensuring strong governance and operational excellence while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

As strategic business partner to Senior Vice President Americas you will be expected to influence regional strategy, provide financial and commercial leadership and drive a Finance Team that partners with Sales and Country Managers across the region to drive growth in sales, increased profitability and maintain governance. Able to challenge core business assumptions with Americas commercial leadership, a critical decision-maker accountable for delivering results in line with CooperVision business model, with monthly presentation to the Executive leaders of the CooperVision Division and Cooper Companies on Americas business performance and outlook.

The RFD will work closely with, and provide ongoing fact-based support to all areas of the business, developing the Finance organization to expert levels in Business Partnering to help achieve success. This executive will understand and anticipate the appropriate information, metrics and business intelligence as necessary, influencing and driving impact in the region personally and through the Americas Finance Leadership Team.

The position requires expertise in Commercial awareness and deal structure, to increase Finance engagement at the local and Regional level, accelerating decision-making and building a platform for repeatable success. The role will enhance the planning and analytical capabilities through the Region, working with Global FP&A on standards, reports and processes to drive efficiency and value-added analysis with a focus upon insight and action.

The role requires strong technical acumen in Finance and Systems/Process as we continue to evolve our global platforms of choice, including a lead Finance business role on the full implementation of Oracle in our North Americas business.

The Sr. RFD will be accountable for driving operational efficiencies by identifying and implementing systems and process enhancements that create improved controls, service levels and operational improvements and will be a strong driver toward the Company's metrics through a thorough understanding of the business.

The role is a leader in the business that connects expertly with their senior leadership team and extended staff, inspiring, motivating and developing Finance talent in the region while delivering positive business outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sparring partner, and strategic finance business partner/advisor/sounding board to President Americas.
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance.
  • Participate, as a strategic partner, in the development of the Region's plans and initiatives and a critical decision-maker in the commercial leadership and execution of business strategy..
  • Accountable for leading the Finance engagement in long range planning, evaluating and advising on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action.
  • Develop credibility for the finance group by further extending Business Partnering expertise, providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and trends in order to assist, guide and advise executive management in the performance of their responsibilities.

  • Develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the Region , working collaboratively with the separately led Shared Service Team
  • Accountable for all monthly and quarterly closing and financial reporting to Corporate
  • Lead the continual improvement of the budget/forecast process, influencing at a Global Level while improving the region through education of Functional managers on financial issues impacting their budgets.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the Americas Region; e.g., evaluation of potential acquisitions, geographic expansion and/or the creation of new entities.
  • Working with Sales Operations to extend the Controller engagement in Commercial Deals, to assist rounded and faster decision-making on deals to enhance profitability and be customer responsive.
  • Finance leader on the business side for the deployment of Oracle into North America, working with a Finance Business Process Lead to ensuring systems capabilities are correctly scoped to support the business including rebates, data acquisition and reporting/accounting.
  • Provide the financial input and oversight, on any Sales, Purchase or Lease contracts into which the Region may enter.
  • Direct the Performance Management and Talent Development process within the Americas Regional Finance Teams, providing individuals with professional and personal development plans, embracing HR tools and processes through the region.
  • Attract, retain, inspire and develop financial bench-strength.
  • Maintain compliance in the areas of corporation tax, payroll tax and support any potential tax audits or enquiries related to the Americas Region, spreading sufficient knowledge through the business to build a strong framework to rely upon.
  • Accountable for the Region's Internal Control environment working with the Global Internal Controls team, ensuring compliance, , timely remediation of any control deficiencies and executive awareness / engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • Strong quantitative orientation, exhibiting a quick grasp of numbers with the strategic ability to interpret for smart decision making.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Direct, hands-on experience of integrating finance activities and resources through acquisition and/or geographic expansion.
  • Excellent Business partnering experience, building strong working relationships with commercial and operations teams to make sound business decisions.
  • Exceptional at leading, managing and developing the skills of the Regional Finance Teams
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX control frameworks.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Self motivated with a high level of initiative.
  • Continually drive for process and systems improvements

Work Environment :

  • This role is based in Victor, NY in a normal office environment.
  • Travel will form a necessary part of this role.
  • Must be prepared to work extended hours as the business demands in this critical role.

Experience :

  • Senior Executive with 15+ years of senior financial management, operational, and leadership experience.
  • Experience as a Finance Director in an International/Regional Division of a US multi-national, in a dynamic and competitive marketplace.
  • Experience of a matrix management style organization.
  • Experience of a highly collaborative organization with a "roll-up your sleeves" culture.

Education :

  • CPA/MBA preferred.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $161,532.00 - $248,510.00 and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
