Human Resources Manager - Multisite (Finance)

The salary range posted represents the low and high end of OSI's salary range for this position. Salaries will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, experience and performance. Base salary is one component of OSI's overall total rewards package. Other components may include bonuses, special pay programs, comprehensive time off, 401k with match and a full suite of benefit offerings for you and your family.

This role is responsible for reporting to the General Manager, managing human resource policies and programs in the areas of, employee relations, labor relations, staffing, EEO/AAP, benefits, and safety for the Chicago Campus and West Chicago locations. Providing direction and counsel regarding human resource aspects of plant operations in both union and non-union environments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day leadership and guidance regarding employment issues including but not limited to corrective action, grievance resolution and other labor/employee relations matters.


  • Recruit, interview and select salaried and hourly employees. Identify and manage temporary worker providers and monitor service agreement for compliance. Coordinate the scheduling of temporary workers in support of production requirements and in accordance with corporate policy.


  • Assist with union negotiations and interpretation of collective bargaining agreement including participation in grievance proceedings.


  • Conduct new employee orientation and prepare new hire employee paperwork in compliance with company policies and procedures, including employment authorization process (SAVE).


  • Maintain paper and electronic employee data files (HRIS) on all employment activity, including hire, job change, wage change, personal information, employee benefits and termination.


  • Administers employment policies and practices in accordance with established procedures and/or collective bargaining agreement. Assist employees and management in the interpretation of company policies and practices. Develops, recommends, and implements pant related HR policies and procedures that are not already covered by corporate policy or procedure; prepares and maintains Plant Handbook on policies and procedures.


  • Works closely with the corporate training specialist to support corporate and plant training/ development programs in the identification of needs and the development and delivery of training programs.


  • Responds to inquiries for supporting documentation and represent company at hearings for unemployment claims.


  • Coordinate annual benefit enrollment process for plant employees, includes form distribution, answer questions, form collection, and data entry of benefit changes.


  • Supervise Safety Supervisors in the performance of safety management related activities such as plant inspections, new hire orientation, issuance of personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure proper maintenance of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and workers compensation related documentation.


  • Supervise the Security Guards (one per shift) in all matters pertaining to plant security including access control, personnel and company property protection and other elements covered in the corporate security policy.


  • Supervise the office housekeeping staff in the performance of all duties required to maintain proper hygiene and cleanliness of all office and restroom spaces of the plant facility.

Experience & Skills

  • 7-10 years prior Human Resource Generalist experience required


  • HR management experience in manufacturing environment required, food manufacturing preferred.


  • Union experience required.


  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and compliance programs (NLRB, ADA, FLMA, FLSA, EEO/AAP, etc.)


  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills required. Must have excellent English communication skills.


  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and work experience.
